The Inventor of Television Had a Sense of Humor

Philo Farnsworth is the brilliant mind behind the invention of television, which in effect means he is directly responsible for Breaking Bad, The Wire and that Adidas Super Bowl ad starring Daft Punk. All things we hope have earned Philo infinite blow-jobs from whichever deity he chose to follow.

However, early in its creation, some people didn’t see the benefit of moving images you could beam into someone’s home and Philo was often harassed by his investors about the use of such a machine. How Philo stopped himself from shutting these people up with a parade of middle fingers you could see from space and a well-deserved slap to the chops is beyond us.

After showing one such group of investors an image he was transmitting from another room, something that had never been done before, some smart-ass interrupted him and said “when are we going to see dollars on this thing?”. Irritated, but not put off his game by the comment, Philo went into the next room and tinkered for a few moments.

A few seconds later the unmistakable silhouette of a dollar sign flickered to life on the screen in front of the investors, hopefully ensuring that the investor responsible for the original snarky comment felt so embarrassed his head exploded from the amount of blood rushing to it.

Oddly, after inventing fucking television, Philo Farnsworth never actually bothered watching it. In fact he was so against television he actively encouraged his children to avoid it all costs and was once quoted as saying “there’s nothing on it worthwhile”. We’ll be honest Philo, now Breaking Bad is over, we kind of agree with you.
